Watson Lamar "Boots" Pitts

February 3, 1946 — August 8, 2022

Watson Lamar “Boots” Pitts, age 76, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022.

Born on February 3, 1946, in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Tom Watson Pitts and Sarah Lela Sellers Pitts. Mr. Pitts retired after 37 years from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked as an Engineer. He enjoyed telling stories of his time spent with the railroad. He also enjoyed working with livestock, going to livestock sales and going to auctions. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Beulah Stapleton and Jerri Hendrix; brother, Tim Pitts; and brother-in-law, Keith Dockins.

Survivors include special friend and companion, Brenda Crunkleton of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Pitts (Cheryl) of Mt. Airy, Brad Pitts (Tamara) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Heather Pitts and Drew Pitts; brother, Doug Pitts of Clermont; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Cook (John) of Suwanee, Lisa Dockins of Mt. Airy; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Raymond Payne and Drew Pitts officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the funeral home.
