Woodie Ruth Brock Chambers, age 85 of Homer, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at a private nursing facility following an extended illness.

Born on January 06, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Lula Maxwell Brock. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Line Baptist Church.Mrs. Chambers was a retired seamstress with Carwood Manufacturing. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, gardening, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, J. M. “Jinks” Chambers, brothers; Otis Brock, Rosco Brock, Vernon Brock, sister, Hazel Payne and several stepchildren.

Surviving are daughter, Helen Brown of Conyers; daughter & son-in-law, Peggy & Erwin Bennett of Homer; brothers, Jimmy Brock of Cornelia, Verlon Brock of Homer; grandchildren, Todd Brown of Conyers, Cherie Beck of Covington, Eric Bennett and Joey Bennett of Homer; six great-grandchildren; step children, Lila Duckett of Alto, J. T. Chambers of Homer, several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Line Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating.Interment will follow in Line Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Chambers will lie in state from 1:30 pm until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday.
